Motorcycle-Suspension

Different Motorcycles come with different spring rates for their springs. Boss! We are not talking about the price. Spring rate is the amount of force needed to compress the spring to a unit measurement in length. You didn’t follow? Alright, Imagine Chacha Suresh to be 80 kilos, that and a motorcycle weight of 130 kilos. Chacha Suresh’s motorcycle stalls at a traffic signal and the horny people behind him keep honking out of horniness? Well, that’s not the point, Chacha Suresh tries to push his motorcycle without getting off from the saddle, while he pushes the motorcycle, the front suspension travels 1cm inwards (hypothetical), so this measurement of 1cm recorded was with a weight of 80+130=210 kilos. The Spring rate, for now, is 210/10mm. This mechanical aspect needs to be optimised. The spring should be designed soft enough to absorb bumps but not too soft. If Chacha Suresh on another day had an urgent delivery and tried stopping all of a sudden at a signal that just turned red, the springs at the front suspension would bottom out and toss him off on the pedestrian crossing. God bless Chacha Suresh because the engineers who designed the springs for his motorcycle’s suspension made sure they were not too soft understanding real-world scenarios upon heavy braking or jumping into a pit like enduro monkeys.
